With the first frost of the season bringing the official end to the summer crops, we now have a little more time for projects around the farm. The biggest of these projects is putting up our new greenhouse. During the last two weeks we have spent a lot of time working on preparing the site for our greenhouse and working on the structure itself. Our neighbor assisted by drilling holes for the greenhouse footers with his bobcat followed by assistance from Nick’s uncles and cousin who helped us pour the footers last weekend. Over the past few days, and with Abe’s watchful supervision, we have been raising the hoops. This weekend we will continue to work on the frame and the end walls. And, if all goes well, our hope is to put up the plastic the following weekend. Though the hard ground could actually use a little rain, the dry weather has been helpful for greenhouse construction!
