As a member of Prairie Drifter Farm CSA, I will receive a share of organic produce every other week for 16 weeks from mid-June to mid-October. Eating within the seasons through my CSA means that share boxes will vary in variety and quantity of produce throughout the season. My farmers will use sound farming practices to produce high quality, healthy organic produce for my family and will provide farm experiences and education through on-farm events, newsletters and the farm website. Farmers will communicate with and respond to members in a timely manner.
I have provided an email address that will be used for communication with the farm, including member updates, invoices, and online farm newsletters; it will not be shared with anyone else for other purposes. Please add farmers@prairiedrifterfarm.com to your address book to protect farm communications from spam filters. If you are a gmail user, check your Promotions folder for email newsletters from the farm.
I agree to fully read the Member Handbook. An updated handbook will be emailed to members in late May or early June. The past season’s handbook is accessible on Prairie Drifter Farm’s website.
I agree to pick up my share at my chosen pick-up site and time. If I cannot pick up my share I will make arrangements for someone else to pick it up. Unless prior arrangements have been made, shares that are not picked up during the designated pick-up window will be donated to a family in need or the food shelf.
Understanding that Prairie Drifter Farm will do their utmost to have a bountiful season, I am willing to share both the risks and rewards of farming with my farmer which may include adverse weather, frosts, pests, disease, or crop loss. As a CSA member, I am supporting local, sustainable, and organic agriculture as well as a more just food system.
CSA Management
We use an online software program called Farmigo for CSA registration and our online farm store for members. The system requires a login for members and then you are able to make additional farm purchases and manage your CSA subscription.
Payment Options and Payment Plans
You have the option to pay by check or PayPal. If using PayPal, you do not need a PayPal account if paying in full. You do need a PayPal account if paying in installments as PayPal will automatically charge you for the second installment on June 1. If paying by check, please mail payment to Prairie Drifter Farm, 61369 223rd St, Litchfield, MN 55355. Do not leave payments at pick-up sites as we do not want our pick-up site hosts to be responsible for handling payments.
Full payment OR deposit of half of your CSA cost is required when you register and prior to your first CSA delivery as a downpayment to reserve your share. Remaining balance is due by June 1. You may also set up a payment plan. A downpayment upon registration prior to your first CSA delivery is still required so that we know you are committed to your CSA share membership, but we can be flexible with the amount and timing of subsequent payments as your family budget allows.
Refund and Cancellation Policy
As a small farm, we rely on the commitment of our members to sustain the farm community throughout the season. Our expenses and commitments are tied to the families who sign up to be members of our farm. That being said, we realize that family situations in the past have occasionally caused families to cancel their membership. If you need to cancel your share prior to the start of CSA deliveries and you have notified us of that need, we can issue you a refund minus a $15 processing fee for the cost of processing your registration. If you need to cancel your share during the season, you are responsible for the cost of all shares delivered plus the $15 processing fee. We will refund the balance. We reserve the right to waive the $15 processing fee in certain circumstances. You also have the option of donating your remaining balance toward our Member Fund which helps offset the cost of a CSA share for families in need or can go toward sending extra produce deliveries to our local food shelves.
Delivery Hold Policy
If there is a week when you are unable to pick up your share due to travel, etc., you have the ability to get a double box on a future week. Please give us at least a week notice so that we can plan for the change. You may also choose to donate your share to one of our local food shelves on a week you are unable to pick up.
